What to visit at Sri Gokul Gaushala

Sri Gokul Gaushala (Amritsar) is a holistic and spiritual community in the village of Birbalpura on the outskirts of Amritsar. It houses pure Indian breed cows, a beautiful Sri Sri Gaur-Nitai temple and a residential Gurukul.

Sri Sri Gaur Nitai Temple

Sri Sri Gaur Nitai temple at Sri Gokul Gaushala was built with great love and efforts within 125 days by the grace of Lord Sri Krishna. The temple now serves as a spiritual centre to the village as well as the community residents, where the beautiful deities of Sri Gaurasundara and Sri Nitai are worshipped with full zeal and fervour. The temple is slowly becoming a centre for various spiritual celebrations of Amritsar residents, and is also witness to various pastimes of the Lord.

Srila Prabhupad Vedic Gurukul

In the current phase of development, Srila Prabhupada Vedic Gurukul (a residential school) has been established on the premises of the Gaushala. The Gurukul provides Vedic as well as modern education to around 40 under-privileged children from different parts of India. The basic needs of the children like lodging, clothes and food are all taken care by the Gurukul, without putting any financial burden on the children. The aim of the Gurukul is to create learned and responsible citizens who excel in their areas of life, without losing the spiritual values and culture.

Sri Gokul Gaushala

With the blessings of our dear Guru Maharaj His Holiness Nava Yogendra Swamiji of ISKCON, the project was started in 2019 by HG Shyamanand Prabhuji, under the expert guidance of HG Indranuj Prabhuji. What started off as a small Gaushala community of 7 Sahiwal cows arriving on the auspicious day of Radha-ashtami, has now grown into a community of 125+ Gauvansh. The Gaushala serves as a source of pure A2 cow milk, Ghee, cowdung based Dhoop sticks and cowdung logs to the residents of Amritsar as well as other cities.
